About Science and Humanities

For many years now a division has been established in our universities between the sciences and the humanities. The Sciences and Humanities (SSH) requirements engage engineering undergraduates in course work that will provide this broad exposure. This includes an extensive array of study areas offered by outstanding liberal arts community of scholars, and provides the student with structured opportunities to understand such topics as: Human behavior; civil society; geopolitical phenomena; the creative, artistic, linguistic, philosophical, and symbolic cultural endeavors throughout human history; social, economic, and political conflict; and challenges surrounding global health, poverty, and the inner city. The Humanities and Sciences program provides a rigorous, accelerated academic program in language arts, literature, social studies, mathematics, and natural sciences. These disciplines integrate the state academic content and learning standards. All courses are taught by highly qualified, certified instructors using Shared Inquiry, cooperative learning, and technology. Instruction takes place in small groups and one to one.
